Welcome to Canberra Killifish Study Groups (CKSG) website!!! These pages are created to disseminate information about Killifish. Joining CKSG is free! Information on how to become a member is below. These pages are under constant construction.

What is a Killifish?

Killifish are small colourful (mostly!) oviparous fish that are rarely seen. Killifish are naturally found in all the continents of the world apart from Antartica and Australia. In our tanks in Australia we have quite a few killifish from Africa and Asia but fewer from Americas & Europe.

In Canberra it is possible to source killifish from other hobbiests, as well as having a number of shops that occasionally carry Killifish, see Fish & Egg Listing for availability of killifish in ACT and Australia.

CKSG Membership There are no annual membership fees, no AGMs, no committee. CSKG is here to encourage communication between its members and increase the knowledge base for keeping & breeding of different Killifish species and facilitate species conservation. You do not even need to live in Canberra to become a member!

A Historical List of Killifish Found in Australia

A list of killifish that are known to be in Australia at sometime or another.

Species Survey Snapshot Currently CKSG members have 21 different species/localities of Killifish belonging to 10 different genera/subgenera.

These Genera are: Fundulopanchax, Aphyosemion, Chromaphyosemion, Epiplatys, Pseudoepiplatys, Aplocheilus, Rivulus, Nothobranchius, Poropanchax, Jordanella.
